    Alpha 2016 Completed
ALPHA 2016 came to a close early December with a festive touch as everyone prepared for the Christmas season. It was a great night of fun and fellowship.

A massive thank you to all the ALPHA team including the Catering Department, Leaders, Helpers, Welcomers and Staff who worked tirelessly to make this event happen during 11 weeks. Well done also to the ALPHA guests who returned each week to learn more about the Christian faith. We sincerely hope all guests have enjoyed the course and leave with a desire to become part of a church family and to learn more of Jesus Christ. Teaching continues at RoL with "First Steps" 2017 - this is a great interactive course which includes prayer, praise and worship.

    What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each session looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone's welcome. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a video and good conversation.

    First there's Food

    Alpha Session 1-3614

Whether it's a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch up over coffee and cake, food has a way of bringing people together. It's no different at Alpha. At River of Life, most sessions start with a healthy dinner because it's a great way to build community and get to know each other.

    Then there's a Video

    Alpha Session 1-3617

The videos are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Around twenty minutes long, there's a brand new Film Series this year featuring Bear Grylls, to explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? or Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?

    Followed by a Discussion

Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There's no obligation to say anything and there's nothing you can't say (seriously). It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.

We really look forward to welcoming you on this exciting Alpha series featuring the famous adventurer, Bear Grylls and led by another pair of not so famous adventurers, Del and Brian!

Alpha is designed for people who may have questions about life, wanting to know more about God or just wanting to find out for themselves what Jesus is all about. If this includes you and you would like to join us in a very comfortable environment without any pressure to talk or participate in any way then this course is definitely for you! Here at River of Life we provide a very friendly atmosphere, starting with a lovely dinner prepared by our wonderful catering team and followed afterwards by a 25 min video.
